Before Your Appointment

A step-by-step guide to everything that happens before your visit — from confirming your booking to preparing your hair, arrival, what to expect and aftercare. Refer back to this page any time after booking.

Your booking is confirmed

Thank you for booking with The M Hair Bar. Your appointment is reserved once your booking fee has been received.

You'll receive a confirmation email containing the service you booked, your appointment date and time, and your studio location. Please review it carefully — everything you need to prepare is included below.

Please don't travel until you've received your confirmation email.

Prepare your hair

To ensure the best results and allow enough time for your appointment, please arrive with your hair:

  • Freshly washed
  • Fully blow-dried straight
  • Completely detangled
  • Free from oils, grease, gels and styling products

I confirm that I will arrive with my hair freshly washed, fully blow-dried, straight and detangled. (This confirmation is required when you book through Acuity.)

What to bring

Your own hair extensions, unless you've purchased hair directly through The M Hair Bar. If you're unsure which hair to buy, get in touch before your appointment and we'll advise on quality and quantity.

For sew-ins, please arrive with your foundation prepared as advised, or book our Sew-In Foundation Braids so we can prepare it for you.

Anything you'd like to keep you comfortable during a longer appointment.

Before you leave home

Double-check your hair is washed, blow-dried straight and detangled — appointments can't run over if hair isn't prepared as above.

Allow enough time for your appointment: sew-ins typically take 3–5 hours and knotless braids 4–9 hours depending on size and length.

Plan your journey so you arrive on time. Please don't travel until your booking has been confirmed by email.

Arriving for your appointment

Appointments are available across London. Your exact location is shared in your confirmation email.

Please arrive on time. Up to 15 minutes late — we'll do our best to accommodate you. More than 15 minutes late — your appointment may need to be shortened or rescheduled. More than 20 minutes late may be treated as a no-show.

To keep appointments relaxed and on schedule, please attend alone unless you've arranged otherwise. Children are welcome only if they have a booked appointment.

During your appointment

Your appointment begins with gentle preparation, followed by a precise, considered install and a refined finish — a calm, unhurried experience from arrival to finish.

The remaining balance is due on the day. We accept card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank transfer.

Expected duration: sew-ins 3–5 hours, knotless braids 4–9 hours, men's protective styling 45 mins–2 hours, depending on your service.

After your appointment

With proper aftercare, sew-ins last 6–8 weeks and knotless braids up to 8 weeks.

Keep your scalp clean and moisturised, and protect your hair at night with a silk or satin scarf or bonnet.

We recommend a maintenance appointment to keep everything looking freshly done.

Need to reschedule or cancel? With 48+ hours' notice your booking fee can be transferred to a new appointment. With less than 48 hours' notice, or a no-show, your booking fee is forfeited.
